What role does social media play in your day-to-day routine? Professional and personal.
In my professional life as a Social Media Consultant my day is spent talking to individuals and businesses about their goals, what they are trying to achieve, what has worked in the past and what has not. I spend a lot of time understanding someones business.
Once I do I then show them the social media tools that will best deliver on their goals. Then the fun begins we work on our clients accounts daily, constantly working on ways for them to grow their contact bases and deepen the relationships they have with their clients.
In my personal life social media keeps me close to and in touch with family and friends.
What was your background prior to joining Social Media Business Boosters?
My background prior to joining Social Media Business Boosters was 15 years leading marketing functions across industries including professional services, financial services, foundations and multilevel marketing.
How did you get into the social media business?
Moving into social media was a natural step for me. I have been around long enough to watch the way in which organisations interact and communicate with customers change giving decision makers many options now when deciding how to find new customers and retain the ones they have.
Over the last few years we were seeing real benefits relative to other methods of reaching new and existing customers that I decided social media was an area that I wanted to spend more time in and focus on helping individuals and businesses with the social media.
What’s the most important change for you in the last year to do with technology that you want to share?
For me the most important change in technology in the past 12 months is applications that have the ability if they are used well to actually change the success of a business.
A great example is Foursquare for cafes. This has the ability to generate new customers through its location device with recommendations and it also keep regular customers really regular through gaming and promotions. Clients using Foursquare will actually talk about the moment they witness a change in the number of customers and the behaviour of customers.
What are you most optimistic about for social media in the next 12 months?
We know we have the ability to deliver real measurable changes for business in a short amount of time. And have fun at the same time.

What challenges have you overcome to get where you are now?
The challenge in front of me now is to grow a successful consultancy. This is the real challenge to do this we must deliver great solutions for clients today and into the future and be fun to work with along the way.
